Adding a gift donor or other non-borrower to a loan

Prev Next

The online application lets a borrower add one other borrower. Past that you get a message saying you are at the maximum. That is a limit of the web application, not of the loan — everyone else is added in Encompass.

Adding another borrower or co-signer

Add the person to the file in Encompass and save. They can then be invited to create a POS account and will have normal portal access from there.

Adding someone who signs but does not borrow

A gift donor, a non-borrowing owner, or anyone else who only needs to sign goes into File Contacts in Encompass as a non-borrowing user. You need at least first name, last name, email and phone.

Save the file and they appear on the loan's People tab in the POS as a non-borrowing owner. From there you can send them an invite, and they can sign in Consumer Connect.

Know what you are granting

A non-borrowing owner added this way has access to the loan. If all you wanted was one signature, be aware you are giving loan access — and see article 87 for what that means for documents, because everything uploaded to a loan is visible to everyone on it.

If you need a single unrelated document signed by someone who should not be on the loan at all, the POS does not handle that on its own. Use your company's own e-signature process.

Removing them afterwards

Removing the contact from the loan in Encompass cuts that person off from that loan, even if they hold a POS account elsewhere. A pending invite that was never accepted can be deleted from the People tab — it is history tracking only, so deleting it removes an apparent duplicate safely.
