Choosing a folder when uploading documents

Prev Next

Version 3.10 lets you decide which folder a document lands in. Before this, anything uploaded from the loan documents area went to the default folder for your role — in practice, the vault — and had to be moved afterwards.

Where it is

Open the loan and go to Documents. Select the folder you want in the folder tree on the left, then upload. The Destination Folder picker opens already set to the folder you are viewing, and the file lands there.

The step people miss

Select the folder first. If you upload without choosing a folder in the tree, the picker opens on the default and the file goes to the vault exactly as it used to. This is the single most common reason the new behaviour looks as though it is not working.

Which folders you can pick

Only folders you are allowed to add files to are offered, so the list may be shorter than the full tree. Folder permissions are unchanged by this release and no configuration was needed to switch it on.

Folder names

A folder keeps its selection when it is renamed, and two folders with similar names are no longer confused in the folder list or in search.

Still to come

Administrator-configurable document folders are in progress, including changing who can access a folder that is already in use, and setting the destination folder for e-consent, credit authorisation and TCPA documents.
