On 29 September 2026, a number of active loans had tasks added that nobody on the loan team created. Some borrowers were emailed a needs list as a result, including on files close to closing, which caused understandable alarm. If you were affected, here is what happened and what to check.
What happened
A release that day introduced the ability to set up tasks for borrowers before they register. On a number of files, rule-default task sets were applied to loans that should not have received them. More than one lender was affected, so this was not a configuration problem at your end.
What was done
The backend team identified it the same day and withdrew the tasks that had not been manually added. A fix followed so it does not recur. No action was needed from loan teams.
What to check on an affected loan
- Open the loan's Tasks tab and confirm the remaining tasks are ones your team added. Withdrawn tasks should already be gone.
- Check the loan log, which records tasks being added, edited and removed, if you need to confirm what changed and when.
- If a task your team genuinely added was removed in the cleanup, add it back with Import from Template.
If a borrower was emailed
Some borrowers received a needs-list notification before the tasks were withdrawn. The tasks are gone but the email was already delivered, so a short call is worth it on a file near closing. If you need to stop task emails on a particular loan while matters settle, there is a toggle on the Loan Summary page that suppresses Big POS task emails for that loan only.
