Campaign attribution referrer

Prev Next

Track which campaign produced a loan by adding a referrer parameter to the application link you distribute. No configuration is required.

How to use it

Append ?referrer=your-campaign-name to any application link.

Example: https://apply.yourdomain.com/apply?referrer=spring-open-house

What happens

  • Captured from the link — the value is recorded when the application is submitted, and survives the sign-in and account-creation steps along the way.
  • One less question for the borrower — when the link already carries a referrer, the application skips its referrer question.
  • Carried into Encompass — written to the loan in Encompass (field 1822) on sync, so reporting there sees it too.

The value is permanent

The first value a loan receives is the one it keeps. A later edit to the loan cannot overwrite or clear it, and an inbound sync from Encompass cannot replace it.

Treat the campaign name as final when you publish a link. A typo in a distributed link cannot be corrected after applications start arriving against it.

Naming suggestions

Use lowercase with hyphens, keep names short, and agree a convention before the first campaign goes out — since values cannot be changed later, consistency has to come from the naming rather than cleanup.
