Asking BIG AI about a loan

Prev Next

Requires a BIG AI contract. If BIG AI is not active on your account, this feature will not appear.

The assistant accepts several ways of referring to a loan. If it cannot find one, the problem is usually scope rather than the loan being missing.

Ways to identify a loan

  • Loan number — ask by the loan number you already use.
  • Borrower name — typing a name where a loan number is expected steers the assistant to look the loan up by borrower. A middle initial or an extra word is tolerated.
  • Encompass loan ID — the loan GUID copied from Encompass resolves to the right loan.

Relative dates such as "yesterday" are resolved from the conversation, without restating the date.

Changes the assistant can propose

The assistant can propose changes across a wider set of fields than before, including loan amount, APR, cash to close, gift amount and the monthly payment components. It can also update email, name, citizenship, marital status, dependants and language preference for any borrower on the loan, not just the primary one. A proposed change is labelled with the borrower it applies to and shows the current value, so you can confirm you are changing the right record.

The conversation stays live while a proposal is waiting on your confirmation — you can keep asking questions instead of having to confirm or cancel first.

If the assistant says it cannot see a loan

When your results are limited by what loans you can see, the assistant says so rather than reporting an empty pipeline. That message means the loan exists but sits outside your scope — not that it is missing.

Separately, when a loan officer asks about their loans and nothing matches, the answer states that it covered only their own loans, so an empty result is not read as an empty pipeline.

Scope follows User Group access, so a manager can ask about the loans belonging to their group, not only their own. Anyone attached to a loan can ask about it, including loan officer assistants and supporting loan officers.

A loan keyed straight into Encompass

A loan entered directly in Encompass is not available to BIG AI until it has reached the POS. If the assistant cannot find a brand new file, confirm it is in the POS first — see article 55, loan not visible in the POS.

What "closed" means

Closed-loan counts and closing statistics include only loans that actually funded. A withdrawn or denied loan will not appear in a closed-loans answer. Breakdowns are available by state, loan type, officer, and month.

Getting started in a conversation

The welcome screen offers starting tiles — List documents for this loan and Summarize this loan inside a loan, plus pipeline shortcuts at the account level.

Reopening a conversation restores the prompt it was answering with, so follow-up questions keep that prompt's knowledge access.

If a question belongs elsewhere

When a question belongs to one of your specialized assistants, the default assistant names which one to open rather than answering that the information does not exist.
